The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S is the model that will be enhancing the features that are already present in the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc, which is one of the most attractive phones launched in recent times. The Arc S provides most of the features of it without changing anything, but there are some crucial changes that will certainly make it a much better alternative to the Arc S. Even though the Arc S is expected to cost a little bit more, the price seems to be justified by taking a look at the features.
In terms of the design, Sony Ericsson has changed very little for the Arc S. This makes the phone look extremely attractive even after more than a year of its launch in the form of the Arc. It will come within the same incredible thinness and the unmistakable arch, which is responsible for the name. The phone measures an incredible 8.7 mm in thickness, which is just a shade thicker than the current thinnest phone in the market - Samsung Galaxy S2. The presence of the Arc S will certainly provide competition to the Samsung phone given that it is not only about the design, but also features as well. While the Xperia Arc was an extremely attractive phone, it sadly did not manage to put up a great fight against the likes of the HTC Sensation and the Samsung Galaxy S2.
Hence, one of the features that gets an improvement over the Xperia Arc is the processor, which has been improved to the 1.4 GHz single core unit. Even though the RAM has not been improved, it will be able to deliver a significant increase in the performance compared to the previous version. This is incredible considering that the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S will be having the latest Android 2.3.4 version, which supports video calling from the stock. The biggest change in the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S has to be the eight megapixel autofocus camera, which will now provide the ability to take 3-D pictures, despite being a 2-D camera.
The 3-D sweep panorama feature in the eight megapixel camera is supposedly the main attraction of the phone, but it is not the only attraction in the phone. The video calling support is provided by the DLNA, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Wi-Fi, and 3G connectivity option. Of these premium connectivity options, the high-end 3G and Wi-Fi options will be able to support the video calling aspect without any issues. The Arc S will provide the latest Adobe Flash 10.2, while the other aspects of the phone including the HDMI port remain unchanged. The battery is also the same 1500 mAh unit that did its job in the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc. The Xperia Arc S will be available from the Q4 onwards in the UK.
